Never remove a server from the VPS permanent registration list before confirming the Desktop connector side is operational. The window between removal and Desktop confirmation is a capability gap where tools are unavailable. Correct protocol: add to Desktop → verify UUID-prefixed tools appear in a new session → then execute removal cascade from both .claude.json files with full documentation cascade.
