researchclaw-hybrid-llm-opus-haiku-stage-split
AutoResearchClaw natively supports primary+fallback model configuration. The chosen config uses Claude Opus 4.6 for 8 critical reasoning stages (hypothesis generation, paper writing, peer review simulation) and Haiku 4.5 for the remaining 15 routine stages (topic init, resource planning, export, etc.). Stays within the Anthropic ecosystem, avoiding third-party API costs and model quality degradation. Haiku was chosen over GPT-4o-mini specifically to avoid ecosystem fragmentation.
