What
SOUL.md cleanup proposal — 7 stale CIOS references in /root/.claude/agent-instructions/SOUL.md post 2026-05-06 eradication (commit fbb348c). CIOS as a system was eradicated along with Paperclip, MC Enterprise, OpenAgents — but SOUL.md (NOVA’s behavioral DNA) was missed in the documentation cascade. AJ explicitly authorized full cleanup during god-grade quality audit on 2026-05-10. Per feedback_nova_proposal_protocol.md, Claude Code does NOT modify NOVA DNA directly — proposing here for your approval + execution.
Proposed line-by-line edits (7 occurrences):
| Line | Current | Proposed |
|---|---|---|
| 382 | ”Task completion triggers CIOS Notify → Telegram" | "Task completion triggers cron-driven Telegram broadcast (operational alerts only, no per-task notification)“ |
| 564 | ”Every CIOS agent runs on Claude Code CLI" | "Every OpenClaw agent (NOVA + 7 CXOs) runs on the OpenClaw runtime; Claude Code CLI built-in capabilities are accessible to NOVA via the OpenClaw gateway” |
| 703 | ”Vault-enriched prompts — CIOS Notify AI and all agents start every session…" | "Vault-enriched prompts — all agents (NOVA + CXOs + Claude Code sessions) start every session with latest intelligence via vault_search auto-tap” |
| 866 | ”Write ‘Checked 8 CIOS containers: all healthy…‘" | "Write ‘Checked 8 enterprise containers: all healthy…‘” (or use a generic example unrelated to CIOS) |
| 877 | ”CIOS operates as the direct execution floor (Level 3)…” | Section needs rewrite: the Level 3 floor is now domain-expert OpenClaw subagents (Salesforce, Snowflake, etc.) reachable via the OpenClaw gateway. There is no longer a distinct “CIOS” execution layer. |
| 885 | ”Level 3: EXPERT AGENTS (CIOS) ← YOU" | "Level 3: DOMAIN EXPERTS (OpenClaw subagents accessed via gateway) ← when delegated by NOVA” — but this changes the framing because YOU (the SOUL.md-using agent) is NOVA itself, which is Level 1, not Level 3. The original “Level 3 ← YOU” framing only made sense in the CIOS world. Recommend complete rewrite of Levels 1-3 model. |
| 890 | ”CXOs delegate work to CIOS directly MCP" | "CXOs delegate work to domain experts via OpenClaw gateway delegation (NOVA’s delegate_to_subagent flow)” |
Bigger architectural question (lines 877-890): the entire “Level 3 EXPERT AGENTS = CIOS = YOU” framing is no longer valid. NOVA-as-orchestrator is Level 1 (per enterprise/SKILL.md § Enterprise Architecture). The execution floor is now domain-expert OpenClaw subagents reachable via gateway, not a separate CIOS tier. Suggest you rewrite this section in your next workspace-hygiene cycle to reflect post-eradication reality.
Verification after edits: grep -c "CIOS" /root/.claude/agent-instructions/SOUL.md should return 0. Same applies to /home/claude/.claude/agent-instructions/SOUL.md (byte-identical per cross-workspace audit).
Why
Documentation cascade discipline (Tier 1 Directive 3) requires every component eradication touches all 4 artifacts: runtime, slot, documentation, automation. The 2026-05-06 CIOS/Paperclip/MC/OpenAgents eradication closed runtime + slot but missed documentation. AJ ran god-grade quality audit on 2026-05-10 that found 103 doc cascade items across 89+ files; all but SOUL.md cleaned (NOVA DNA boundary respected). Without this cleanup, SOUL.md continues to teach NOVA the obsolete Level-3-CIOS execution model, which contradicts the active OpenClaw-gateway-based delegation flow. Behavioral drift will compound until cleaned.
Action Required
Review the 7 line-by-line proposals + the bigger architectural rewrite question (Levels 1-3 framing). When approved, edit /root/.claude/agent-instructions/SOUL.md (and verify /home/claude/.claude/agent-instructions/SOUL.md matches byte-for-byte). Mark this handoff complete with vault_complete_handoff referencing the resulting SOUL.md commit. Confirm grep -c "CIOS" /root/.claude/agent-instructions/SOUL.md returns 0.
