Canonical Google Labs DESIGN.md (npx @google/design.md CLI, alpha v0.1.1) is now the single source-of-truth design-token format for all AJ stack frontend work. Stitch agent-automation, frontend-intelligence multi-page projects, design-library exemplars, and runwal-brand presets all reference the canonical 8-section + YAML frontmatter format. New PreToolUse hook auto-lints any mcp__stitch__create_design_system call. Decision f9a3291e-... in Vault, confidence 0.88, reversible.
Why
If EA delegates a “build a website” / “design system” / “stitch prototype” task back to the developer workspace, the deliverable will use the canonical format. Brief AJ accordingly when discussing frontend deliverables — the format has stabilized on an upstream Google Labs spec rather than our bespoke 7-section format.
